Had a great weekend in Jamestown. Dove Ft W Fri and Sat. 10-15 vis. Ton of fish with some tropicals. Great to see so many divers out. A couple pics. What is the fish in the first pic? They were all over the cove. MICR0024.jpgMICR0124.jpgMICR0035.jpg

The first fish is a scup

Yep, they are also a very tasty good eating fish. Keeper size is min 10" in MA unless they changed that on me. In the late spring we catch some very large ones. Some people use them to catch stripers by live lining the porgy. Seems like kind of a waste to me because I thing the scup tastes better than the striper.

little late but very nice - that spotfin butterflyfish is the only tropical variety I ever see in Jamestown.
Yellow tail damsel fish also show up there and Lion fish have been reported. Other tropical also show up, too, but the butterflies are the most prevalent (and easy to spot).

Heck, I'll add to the fish ID. The second fish is a Bergall, or Cunner. It's a small wrasse. They are kind of pesky. :crafty:
