Just returned from a week in Roatan. Wanted to let you know about our dive operator who is fairly new (as an owner, worked for others on the island previously.)
Anemone Divers is located in West Bay by Fosters Resort. This is a smallish operation with great individualized service. The owners and all of the folks we met are all instructors. Owners Sophie and Mary Paz are delightful as are Sara and Sergio who work with them. We dove with all four during the course of the week and found them not only very competent but also delightful. We also observed their instruction with two Rescue diver candidates and an OW class with a family of four. They are meticulous in the attention to detail. We were able to plan our dives according to our wishes, not some pre-arranged schedule. While we all brought our own equipment I was able to observe that their rental stock is all relatively new, high quality and appears well maintained. Its a small boat operation so no cattle calls here. Since all dive operators in Roatan seem to charge identical rates its hard to imagine going off with one that does not provide the level of options and service that Anemone does. Bottom line--next trip I won't even consider shopping around, just e-mail Sophie with the dates.

BigMac how far are they from the Infinity Bay Resort?
I have also heard good things about this operator and want to find a small scale operator for my week's stay.

If it is at Fosters it is a 5 minute walk on the beach. There is another small operation at the Mayan Princess, Mayan Divers, great boat and operation.

Can you get to most of the good dive sites easily with the Anemona Divers or the dive shop at the Mayan Princess?

Yes, West bay is at the western tip of the island and while most of the dive sites are east, it isn't more than a 15 minute boat ride to the furthest. Pablos place and West end wall are both great dives and they are right there. The reef is only a few hundred yards off the island.

I could not agree more with your impression of Sophie, Maria, Sarah and Sergio. Anemona Divers is a great place to go. We just got back from 2 weeks on Roatan and my husband and two teenage boys dived exclusively with Anemona. They are very welcoming and accomodating. They arranged dives at the Prince Albert Wreck, Mary's Place and Cora-a-Cora (shark dive). Sergio took great care of my boys during the cave and wreck dives. Sarah really went above and beyond when one of them was having problems equalizing pressure. Can't say enought great things about this group of people - would most definately dive with them again.
