Hi everyone. Just last weekend I wrapped up my quest to dive wrecks on all five Great Lakes this year. We did two dives at Whitefish Point and were blown out the second day. But the dives were great.

My dive buddy/writer friend and myself published the results today in the Toledo Blade. A put a slideshow and some video clips on our website. Take a look if you get a chance. The wreck diving on our lakes is world class as many of you know more than I. We didn't have one bad experience in the five months we spent doing this. Each wreck offered something the one before didn't, as did each destination.

We dove the Pelee Passage of Lake Erie, Port Sanilac, Straits, Kingston and Whitefish Point. All very cool.

So if you have time to kill take a look. It's at http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051009/NEWS17/51001030/-1/NEWS

The videos are listed first and are way slow to load. Towards the bottom, under the Photo Gallery banner is the slideshow. Let me know what you think. UW photography was a new thing for this year. Fun, but incredibly challenging.

The story isn't posted yet for some reason but I'm working on that.

Thanks,
Andy

Great pictures. Did you get any pictures of the willis? The day we dived her the vis was to bad for pictures.

Thanks, I wish I got pix of the Willis but I at least saw it! Half our crew couldn't find it. I saw the whole wreck but had to use my reel the entire dive. We had about 5 feet of viz. It's a shame because it's really a great wreck. The only UW pic from Erie I have is the screw of the Jay Gould. It's on the site but it's pretty ugly.

it took us 2 hours to get tied in. My first dive was to muck in all directions. We used a reel on all of are dives to bad vis.

Here is a side scan image of the wreck

Good stuff Andy, I didn't get a chance to view it all as I have a pretty crappy connection here in Phoenix. I will check it out when I get back home, let us know when the article gets printed as my company has a branch office in Maumee and I will have my sales guy grab me a copy of the paper.

I will definetly agree with you on the Great Lakes diving.

Thanks. The article was printed in Sunday's Blade. The Oct. 9 addition.

Mix diver, we had pretty much the same experience on our dives. We went with Scuba Recovery out of Port Clinton. Long boat ride but we had great weather and it was fun. The captain, Steve Sheridan, is a great guy. I just wish we could've really seen the wrecks. The first two dives, the Willis and Clarion, I didn't shoot one image. Wasn't worth wasting the pixels. :-)

It looks like we both did the same wreck list as you did. Nice wrecks but not much left of the clarion. The willis was great 3' at a time.
