Every so often a very informative thread or post is made containing a comprehensive, balanced explanation of a certain topic. Be it a general overview or specific issue. I believe it would be useful to categorize them and place them in a reference forum where those interested in a certain topic can be referred to. It would facilitate more concise access to pertinent information than the current general search method. This would be similiar to the article forum but different in context and possible content.

Allow anyone to nominate thread or post for inclusion in reference forum. There could be a nomination forum where moderators and non mod's could argue merits for inclusion based on comprehensiveness and balance, or other criteria. Threads and posts could be edited, with permission if necessary, to provide a concise information display. Multiple threads/posts on one subject could be included if they provide diverse content, context, or reasoning approach, in order to facilitate understanding by different people using different thought processes.

Many very knowledgeable divers are not inclined to write a formal article with an depth explanation of a subject matter. Instead, they are sometimes motivated to do so by a particular discussion. Sometimes it is the contribution of various participants that creates an information gem. These valuable nuggets of information should be properly valued and stored in a useful manner for the benefit of others.

Great idea, I will have to look into this to see how we can add a function just along the lines you suggested.

An outstanding suggestion. (Consider this a bump to keep the concept alive.)

The function is still at the top of my to-do list for our next upgrade.
