The true story of the Can Do (a 49' pilot boat) during the Blizzard of '78 off the coast between Marblehead and Gloucester. Almost all of the events transpired in areas where we dive now. After reading it I have a whole new respect for the area and the people who live and work it. Absolutely amazing tale with amazing characters. Very well written. I highly recommend it.

I happened to see a blurb about it on Chronicle and requested it from my library. Local author. The main subject was a boat captain/diver and he helped out the USCG around Cape Ann. I finished the book a few days ago and I still can't stop thinking about it.

As a result of reading his book, I found I needed to do more research for a film about the Chester Poling. For the first time, someone mentions Joao DeRosa was an able seaman, not the cook. Small detail, but when you're referencing a casualty, I think it's important. Glad I read the book.
