My first trip to Grand Cayman was cancelled due to Gustov. Thank God GC didn't suffer major damage. However, looking to reschedule Oct 4th.

How long will it take for the water visibility to return?
Was the coral damaged by the storm?

Thanks

I don't think you're going to have any issues. The way the island lays there's always a lee side.

I was there during a tropical storm and we continued to dive the entire week. We did one dive on the windward side before the storm hit and viz was already dropping. Once we got the boat around the point the water was calm and clear.

Since it normally is incredibly clear and the bottom is sandy I expect that everything will settle and by Oct 4 you're going to have a great trip.

Good luck and have fun.

We were back out diving the North wall on Monday 1st Sept and the conditions and vis were excellent.
We have had some strange winds as a result of Hurricane Hannah but it has not stopped the diving nor affected the vis.
Because we do not have any rivers or mountains storm events do not tend to affect our diving conditions very much at all in terms of the visibility, certainly not in the long run (ie 2-3 days +).
Exceptions to this would be direct hits from cat 3+ storms which will mess anybody up for a while!
Cheers,
CJ
