Me and my girlfriend are heading to Grand Cayman in February for a week. Im certified and she is going to do her open water dives when we get there. Does anyone have any reccomendations on a good dive operator in the Georgetown area?? We are also looking for a decently priced place to rent for a week as well if anyone has any info?

We are planning on relocating there, and this trip is to get a feel for the diving and the area to make sure we like it.

Thanks and any info is greatly appreciated!

Justin

A big second on Turtle Nest Inn. It's in Bodden Town, 10 min or so from George Town but if you hook up with east end dive shops like Ocean Frontiers, its very convenient.

I can recommend both.

7 Mile Beach Resort - Cayman Islands

We have a time share here and love it. Very convenient. You can even walk to George Town, restaurants, etc. Lots of diving all along West Bay / 7 Mile Beach, etc.

My wife and I, and previously she and her father, have used Don Foster's Dive Cayman op though it's been years since we've been back. We found it to be professional and had no complaints but check into current reviews. It's in Georgetown. We stayed on Seven Mile beach so it was a bit of a pain to get to the shop in the am (rush hour which is pretty much unavoidable since there aren't that many roads).

An Update on Turtle Nest Inn......

At DNS (Dive N' Stuff, founded in 1993), our professional, but personal dive services are second to none. We offer free pickup and drop-off services to guests at
Turtle Nest Inn & Condos. Our dive boats are comfortable and equipped with divers in mind.

Also if you are thinking of booking there call quickly they book fast.

Not in Georgetown but Ocean Frontiers (East End) has a terrific dive operation out there. You can stay with them at Compass Pointe or stay a couple miles down teh road at Tortuga Club or the Reef.

The Turtle Nest Inn is nice, but as noted it is in Bodden Town. That is about 10 miles from George Town - 1 15 minute drive if there is no traffic. In the mornings there is significant traffic going into George Town and the drive time can be 45 minutes if you hit traffic wrong! However there is no traffic if you stay at TNI and chose to drive east to dive with an operator on that end of the island.
