I know you've deceived me, now here's a surprise
I know that you have 'cause there's magic in my eyes
I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles....

Just thought I'd share a little Who with y'all in honor of the great viz today!

Scubastew and I drained a couple tanks this afternoon in the big aquarium - Brant Rock. I've never seen the viz so good here- it had to be 25 feet on the first dive, and 20-ish on the 2nd! Temps were a balmy 64. The bugs were scarce, bigguns were eggers, but Haddads had some ice cold beer! (Hey, I just realized I'm no longer an associate NELD member - woohoo!) Stewie bought beers for the flag b*tch too!

I also did my first scallop dives yesterday off of Plymouth. First dive was nothing but dogfish and sand, 75 fsw, 50 degree bottom temps, 10 foot viz at best, and ripping current. I did get a good cardio workout getting back to the boat though.

The 2nd dive yielded the goods, although the volumes weren't heavy. We believe we're all around them but just off a few 100 yards here or there.

I didn't realize that the minnow-size red hake live inside the scallop shells until I popped a scallop open and the fish came a-wigglin out - weird.

That's cool you got great vis. You can never tell until you get in.

Interesting about Scallops in Plymouth area. Didn't realize beds could be out there. You just have to hunt and peck and hope get lucky?

All have to do is start at deep, sandy area w/ current?

I'm actually going Sunday Sout of Saquish. He's going to try his hand at lobstering for first time. You think there could be any spots near Gurnet or Warren cove that there could be scallop beds? I would like to show him how to scallop.

The vis down in southern RI is 25 feet too! On land that is..... bloody fog..... :eyebrow:

Send some of that clear water down the coast to RI please! ;)

Luis,

It was a good 20 minutes south of Plymouth harbor. We went with another boat, no landmarks, just a GPS setting. When we came up from our first (unsuccessful) dive, we found that the other boat had done a bounce and had moved a bit aways. We moved over there, and had a tense 10 minutes waiting for the last diver to surface. He was a good 250 yards away, (with about 100 lbs of air left), but he had a full bag. We marked that spot on GPS and did our second dive there.

We'll be lobstering Sunday at the honey hole.

Last time I was at BR, it was a very high tide and the viz was excellent, too. Had to be near 20 feet. But, like you, lack of keepers...only one.

Nice reports. I'm glad to see that someone is diving.

I've finallly licked the mother of all sinus infections and I'll be at STB on Sunday.
