Not sure if this was an independent instructor in Maryland, but I recently learned of a similar situation locally. A guy was teaching at a local healthclub facility. He had claimed to be a NAUI Instructor but presented students with a diploma from YScuba. Come to find out he was not a certified active instructor for either agency.

I would contact him immediately and ask what the deal is. I'd also contact NAUI and the Y to see if you're actually registered with either agency.

Well if the Y card came in the mail (as the OP clearly states in the first post) that would indicate that the cert is registered.

To the OP: Sounds like the training was well done and the skills were well received.

Congratulations on getting your card, now go diving and have fun!! :)
