Gopro settings

As someone who doesn't know a ton about shooting and editing video, the temptation is to shoot video at the highest possible resolution and FPS. I have a gopro hero4 black. Suggestions on what settings to use when filming snorkeling trips this summer. Assuming it will all be full light and not looking to do slow mo? Also any suggestions on shooting the kids in the pool this summer? Running, jumping, and trying to edit in some slow mo. Thanks in advance guys.

Here are the video settings I use with my GoPro Hero 4 for what it is worth. This may be a good place to start and then tweak to your liking. This is still very new to me, but I really dislike the “wide” field of view setting. You can be right on top of your subject and it looks like you are a mile away and there is a bit of distortion. I recommend a tray for stabilization and a couple of video lights too. Good luck!

1080 Resolution
60 FPS
Medium FOV
Format NTSC
Protune, low light and spot meter set to off.

You might want to make sure your computer can process the data fast enough to actually display the video. I've had some minor issues with this using an older, "I don't care if it dies" computer.

I am using a Hero 5 and use the same settings as Soloist except I use 120 fps instead of 60. Obviously it is going to take up more space on your card, but I really like using it because I feel the "images" are much smoother. Also if there is a segment I want to slow down, I can achieve the same smoothness even when slowing the clip.
