Hey guys, first post but I'm looking for some feedback on a new product we're developing and I wondered whether you guys would be kind enough to share your knowledge and experience with me.

In a perfect world, what would you like, expect from a GoPro Scuba Tray, either in manufacture, quality, features, price, etc.

This is how it currently looks...

Any feedback is appreciated.

Would it be possible to get more pics, from different angles, and the specs (materials, weight, estimated cost, etc)?

A couple of thoughts:

The way you have it standing illustrates an issue I have with my home made tray---how to make it stable/stand up when loaded up with lights and/or additional cameras. As shown there are two contact points with the surface it's sitting on---a third would make it stable. In the case of my rig I realized a day ago I can simply flip my entire assembly upside down and rest it on the lights themselves.

You may have noticed folks loading up their trays with multiple cameras and might want to think about adding multiple attach points and/or an expansion strategy for adding additional cameras and/or stacking multiple trays.

I assume you're thinking of line-loc type light attachments on top of the handles? You might want to think about other ways/places to attach them. Some folks have posted pictures with lights above and below their trays, for instance.

My home made tray is rather long (18") and I occasionally use it like a cane to help stand up or climb rocks & stairs. This may not be an intended use, but you might want to think whether yours could stand up to such abuse.

Finally, please consider floatation options for folks, like me, who load up their tray with heavy lights and/or battery packs.

My 2 cents.

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback/questions.

Got some specs for you guys...

Weight without camera or camera mount: 318g

Weight with Hero 3+, Housing, Mount and Thumbscrew: 463g

Length: 270mm
Total height: 145mm
Grip height: 130mm
Depth: 30mm
Thickness: 4.5mm

Materials: Base (aluminium), Grip (Kralon Rubber), Grip insert (Nylon66), Mount (ABS), Mount screw (316 stainless steel).

Both handles have 1/4" - 20 tpi threads top and bottom.

An additional support bar can be added to the top and attached to the top of the handles to create a complete frame, adding the flexibility to add additional equipment/cameras.

I'm also considering replacing the ABS mount with an anodised aluminium mount for extra durability.

How is sounding so far?

Something/someway to easily attach light(s) ???? Hand grips seem larger than necessary but that might be photo angle. Is main horizontal bar straight or triangle/boomerang-shaped to put camera a bit forward ? Cool.

I think it's the angle of the photo. Hand grip length is just 130mm so not overly big but big enough to get a firm grip. The tray bar is straight and lights can be attached using the 1/4" - 20 tpi thread at the top of both handles or mounted underneath the horizontal bar and mounted using the slots on either side.

Handles don't have to be so high and topo of handle needs to except Loc-Line or Photo Ball mounts. Still appears too big for me. Nice part about GoPro is how small it is. I agree you need stable platform to use but it doesn't have to big excessively big.

Thanks for the feedback again. I'm not sure I agree with it being too big, maybe the photo above is misleading. Just to give you an idea of size in context, this was it being tested in the red sea recently...

Are Loc-Line adapters available with a 1/4"-20tpi male thread to screw into the tops on the handle?
