Hi,

I read the GoPro HD Hero can be finicky with the brand of SD memory cards used. I was hoping people who own this camera would comment on the brand of memory card they are using that works well with the camera or any that did not.

Thanks,

Riley

Riley, You need to make sure you get a SDHC (high capacity) card. I got my camera and needed to use it the next day so I ran over to the local walmart and picked one up. I wasn't sure how the quality was going to be so I only got 8gb card. It works perfect!! They recommend 32gb but holy cow they are pricey!! Good luck.

Buy a name brand. I have the SanDisk 16 gig. Works great.

BTW- when I bought my camera last month, I was told that the 32 gig disk isn't even available yet.

I went with the Kingston Tech that was recommended by either on GoPro site or Eye Of Mine site. I bought the 16GB card for ~$30, not bad if you ask me.

The issue is less the brand of card as it is the read/write speed of the card.

Fstbttms - -32 GB SD cards are readily available. Who told you they weren't? Maybe that place just didn't sell them?

I use a Kingston 16 gb card with no poblems. They are under $30 on Amazon. I got the 16gb because of the price and it's roughly equal to the battery life. I figure I can pop a new card in when I replace the battery.

Google it: +/- $65 - posting multiple sources since the best price changes often:

Amazon.com: SanDisk Ultra 32GB SDHC Card (SDSDRH-032G-A11): Electronics

Also check Fry's Electronics if there's one nearby. They have them for $59 but seem to be selling out and stocking the Class 6/10 cards instead. http://www.frys.com/product/5896373?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
