The decline is real.
1. Age, the average age of divers is way up.
2. The economy is to easy to blame it on, people do not have the types of jobs they once had and feel insecure in their jobs and Wal Mart/service industry jobs do not provide the funds real manufacturing and industrial jobs once did.
3. Fitness, the general population is at an all time fitness low.
4. Girth, obesity, at epidemic levels
5. Interest, people who are crippled by obesity and fitness and lack of money find other things to do with their time, like porn, thus the inverse relationship of scuba or any activity sport to porn.
Apparently there are a lot of poor, fat, out of shape people sitting at their computers, uh, well, you get the idea.
