Lucid,

how many divers normally go out on Ocean Divers boats?

What is the length of their boats vs scuba-do?

Ocean Divers charges $70 for a 2 tank dive trip, and scuba-do charges $61 if my math is correct. Not that much of a disparity.

I'm not sure of the lengths of each of thier boats. I'll have to measure with my reel when I am there this weekend =]
I personally don't like diving on boats that have 20 people that dive 10 times a year stumbling around with a bunch of gear on. Never fails that I end up dodging a falling tank at least once everytime I get on one of those cattle boats. Most of the times I dive on scuba-do there are 6-8 people. The crew helps you with your gear if you need them too. They will change your tanks for you.

If you have positive things to say about Ocean Divers then by all means say em. I am just giving my opinion and my recommendation =]

I ran OD's boats for about 4 years back in the early 90s. Yes, they run larger groups. The boats are 50' long, average number of divers less than 20, a bit more on a holiday weekend or something like that. For some divers this sort of operation is preferable to a small boat.

Scuba Do is also a good operation. Tony and Laurie are great.

On either boat you'll get help with whatever you need.

and www.diverscityusa.com charges 50.00 for a 2tank dive.... tanks/weights included.

- and they change your tanks (unless you don't want them to

- and they load all of your gear onto the boat

- and they unload all of your gear when you get back

- and they only take 10max

- and they run tech trips if you are qualified

Lucid,

I have no experience with any dive ops in the Keys (or anywhere else in Fla for that matter). I was just curious about the size of the boats and the number of people each takes. In looking at the pics of the boats (and we all know how deceiving pics can be), I really couldn't tell sizes.

And as far as the price, your statement made it sound like scuba-do was much cheaper.

Rax,
Thanks, I knew from previous research that there are prices closer to what you posted. I only looked at the 2 ops posted earlier to get an idea of how much more one charged over the other.

I didn't consider the fact that most people need tanks. I have my own so it is cheaper. Guess its not that big of a difference if your diving tanks. But, I asked OD how much they knocked off if you had tanks and I am pretty sure they would only knock about $10 off. So thats $60 versus Scooba-do at $45.

Heck, if your coming down for a few days try 'em both =]

How much does Scuba-do charge if you have your own tanks?
Silent World charges $37.00. (Small boats) Thanks.

Long pockets, short arms.

To each there own I guess.
