Grajan:
lukeROB,

I've been using a Canon S45 with only the internal strobe with 'OK' results but want to start using a single external unit. I borrowed a YS-90 this week and took it to Cozumel (where the conditions were unusually bad for photography). The results were no better than average. On half power it flared out completely and on full power the colors were washed out.

So.... What is a "proper" strobe that can be used effectively in slave mode?

BTW we will be in Perth in a couple of weeks visiting family before a trip to Exmouth. We will try and get a few in at Rotto for old times sake.

By proper I was meaning something that is either made specifically for digitals or has the ability to change settings. The Inon D strobes are great because you can use them in "auto" (pretend TTL) or in manual. The Sealife puts out the same flash always you need to control lighting by positioning which is difficult.

The new Inon D-2000 would be the way to go these days. 13 manual settings, S-TTL, focus light, GN 20 etc. Plus it is pretty cheap for what you get. Although the whole system is not really cheap - definatly more than you camera and housing combined.

PM me when your going to rotto, I'm always looking for another buddy.
