Hello Scuba Board, I am planning a trip to Cabo in Nov. for three days of diving and wanted to know if board members had any recommendations on what shop to dive with and a resort or hotel that would be close to cabo so we don't have to rent a car. We don't mind walking a mile or so as we also like to exercise.
Thanks in advance
Jack

The airport is north of San Jose Del Cabo near Santa Anita. How are you planning to get to Cabo San Lucas? I was there last year and found renting a car is the best thing to do to get around. There is a couple of dive ops on the government side of the marina, but not walking distance from any resort. I used a private boat, but I know you need to quiz them thoroughly on where they are going to take you or they will repeatedly take you to the same place. That is usually the point at the mouth of the harbor. If you don't have a place to stay, try Riu Palace. They cut a good deal on CheapCarribean.com

I usually stay at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach and it is a ways from the harbor.

Hi we are flying into the San Jose Airport. I did hear about the Riu Palace and seems like a nice Resort. I will check CheepCarribean.com
It looks like renting a car might be a good idea.
Thanks
Jack

See my trip report from a few years ago. All still valid I think. You can stay at the marina but it is expensive. It would save the car rental cost but you would not be able to travel up the coast at all. For three days, it might be worth it. As others have said, you would have to pay to get in town from the airport which is quite a haul.

I hear Nov. is a wonderful time to visit Cabo. I hope you will post a trip report. We rented a condo at Terrasol. Best of both worlds. Super quiet and peaceful, but a 5-10 minute walk to the marina. We did not rent car since most restaurants and dive op were an easy walk from our condo. You can see my trip report below which goes into more description of where we stayed.

I will be there in the first week of October and I will be staying at the RUI Palace and I'm diving with Manta Scuba, who I have heard great things about. I'll write a trip report when I get back.

Jack:

We were in Cabo last November (late in month). Water was still warm, viz very good. Used Baja Dive and had a great time--two tank dive and five divers. They're located next to Wyndham hotel. Look forward to your trip report when you return. Lots of info on this board and various other sites on the internet.
