Congrats on both your recent certification as well as with the quarry dive. I do a lot of teaching in a local quarry near the Pittsburgh area and can understand the change you went through from the Keys to PA! I can tell you that diving in the cold quarry does make you a much better diver the next time you are in warm water. It will be a piece of cake when you are not wearing that wet suit and weights! Consider looking into purchasing your own wetsuit or custom wetsuit. You may even want to consder a dry suit. A lot of stores, like ours, offer a free dry suit course with the purchase of a dry suit. A dry suit definetly makes PA diving more fun. If you are ever in the Pittsburgh area, stop in and say hello. Our web site is Home - Uncle Joe's Scuba.
Congrats again and also congrats to your hubby for helping you and being there for you.

My wife and I both got certified at Dutch Springs in July and will be doing our first saltwater dives in the Gulf of Mexico when we visit my brother in Clearwater Beach in 9 days. I just git Nitrox certified at Dutch on Sunday...it was 26 degrees that morning. Ah, that first feeling of the water pouring into your booties before your body has had a chance to warm it up in your wetsuit.....ffffffffffffffantastic! (can you say freaking freezing? I knew you could.)

Seems like it's the same case as learning to ski in the Poconos. Once you learn to ski the ice and junk conditions typically found out here in the Northeast, you come to realize that skiing out west is EASY and lots of fun.

Hope that's the case with SCUBA too. Pennsylvania. It's great practice for everywhere else!
