Unfortunately I could not make it down for the SB Fish Rock trip as we had to drive down from Byron early on Friday morning to do the morning dive. I believe that everyone was leaving on Friday.

Anyway it was my dive buddies Birthday and she had the best birthday present she has ever had.

Here is a collection of Video's I took on my Nikon D90 with a Tokina 10-17mm lens @ 10mm.

Those are spectacular Mark. It looks like there was quite a surge in the water. I am not sure what the GNS is but it looks like it is obviously populated by sharks. I am also very impressed with the video quality on the D90.

Awesome videos! But they reminded me I am no longer in Fish Rock so won't be seeing them for a while :depressed:

Sorry we missed you Byron. I had to have the rental car back in Port Macquarie by lunch on Friday so did not stick around long. Hopefully you can come to the next Aussie Scubaboard trip :)

Steve, GNS = Grey Nurse Shark

Hi Steve,

Sorry, GNS stands for Grey Nurse Shark. The same species like the Sand tiger in the States and Raggytooth in South Africa. Unfortunately here in Australia we have small numbers due to thier slow reproductive rate and mass killing by spearfishermen in the 60's and 70's.

Some people even believe that there are only about 500 left on the East Coast of Australia. As you can see in the videos they are alot at Fish Rock.

Regards Mark

Thanks Sas...I just read his other post and he spelled that out.....I cannot get over how different they look from the Caribbean Nurse Shark. Again Mark, just awesome as usual.
