So im looking for some general purpose hood im down here in tampa florida, so im thinking to go with the Ocean Quest 5/3mm Premium Super-Stretch Titanium Diving Hood G0CY-01-DDS with reviews at scuba.com they got some good reviews but wanted to verify with you guys..

Now on the gloves.. Ill be doing some spearfishing so i need some bad ass gloves something i wont get cut with a fish and something that good enough to grab the spear and remove it from the fish.. Also i want to be able to shoot.. so i guess not to big..

I read a bit around and most people recommend getting kevlar ones...

Whats you guys opinion on which one to get?? i saw this guys around (Hollis 4mm Kevlar Diving Gloves 215.1510.001 with reviews at scuba.com) just not sure if thats what i should get..

Thanks all

About the gloves, I think you should try Nordic Blue dry gloves. It's being sold in Amazon today.. It's based from my friend's experience and saw it also. I've just came back from a vacation last week. It's also comfortable to use. Just wanna give my opinion.. =) Hope it helps...

I've been through about 20 pairs of gloves over the last 10 years.....maybe more. I picked up a dozen of these the last time I was in Hawaii. Comfortable and durable. If you plan on shooting lion fish you may want something thicker but for any other fish, they work fine. Easy to grip your bands for cocking the gun.

If you buy "dive" gloves the price goes up about three times this.

I agree, with gloves, think outside the box. You don't really need so much warmth in FL so look in other places. Kevlar is good, maybe some meat cutting gloves?
I use kids football gloves, since I have tiny hands, for my tropical gloves. For my warm"ish" gloves, I like Bare's 3ml and 5ml gloves. Thicker than that, I start switching to dry gloves.
I doubt that the OP wants the Nordic dry gloves since I assume he's diving wet. Plus, dry gloves run a risk of puncture when spear fishing.
For hood, I can't imagine you need a real thick hood. I have a 1.5ml beanie that I love, for swimming and tropical diving. For colder diving, check out Pinnacle,Whites and Bare.
