My family always stays at Sunrise. It's a bit old and quirky, but clean, has a nice pool, is on the main road/beach, and the best snorkeling is a two-minute swim straight out. Its quiet and an easy walk to "downtown." They have family rooms that will cost right around $200 a night. We love it there.

Have you checked Agoda? Probably the widest selection of places to stay on it to look for a place suitable.
I wonder if people are aware that Agoda and similar companies demand a commision of at least 18%. We are very glad we never did business with them.

Yes, I’m aware of this. However I always start with booking/Agoda or similar to see, what’s available and use the map function (or TA/SB) to find the area we want to stay. Then contact the hotels I’m looking at.
If I can I book directly, but sometimes I get a better rate + free cancellation from booking etc - even when I write the hotel and let them know I can get this price … Some hotels websites even go directly to booking, when you press the “book now”.

But again: if I can, I book directly- sometimes it gives perks as free pick up, internet, better room etc.

I usually book months ahead and with FREE cancellation.
Came across plenty of budget establishments which simply has no web site.
The extra is well worth it to me.

"Apart from a few high quality...". Speak for yourself only. LOL.
Of course agency works for nothing otherwise you would not use its services! Day dreaming.

I have been travelling in many countries for well over 30 yrs and yet to use a travel agency to book accommodation. Agoda etc suits me well for my type of travelling. Am I alone on that?
