Gilboa winter weekends

Gilboa's website says they will be open the 1st and 2nd weekend in the winter. Can anyone tell me if that would be 31st& 1st or the 7th & 8th. Also will it be iced over or open.

hi Tim, I dove Gilboa last Sunday. There was no ice, not even really on the fringes.

The weekends for Feb would be the 7th and 8th, if they are consistent with first Saturday / Sunday lingo. You may want to call, but I would bet it is the 7th.

When I went last week, the bottom temps were 37 deg F.

If you do go the first weekend (7/8) please post a report to this thread. I'm entertaining the idea of going the following weekend.

I drove past the quarry today, just to see if Mike was around to chat. It looked like the quarry was 50-75% ice covered, but all the open water seemed to be by the shallow docks. I should have taken a pic from the road, but didn't stop.... so your mileage may vary... but it was 0F and dropping when I was in the area.

So are they closed on the 14th & 15th of february? Because really the 1st weekend was this past sunday but it was only sunday...and the first full weekend would be the 7th and 8th and the second weekend would be the 14th and 15th???? hmmmmm....

Good question - I wouldn't mind diving the weekend of the 14th, myself.

If somebody knows the answer, enquiring minds would like to know! Maybe I'll just have to give the office a call this weekend.

Anybody want to dive the 14th or 15th, if open?

I called the quarry yesterday. The quarry is open but for ICE dives only. The deep side has open water but everyone need to be ice certified either way. This is comming from Mr. Williams.
