Is it still $15 during the week?

It is 15 dollars IF you want to walk your gear back to the dive sites from the main parking lot. Otherwise, its 4 dollars extra per person to drive back and drop off your gear.....

Last time that I dove Gilboa was on a Monday and they charged me $15. I asked about the additional $4 and they said that was only on weekends. I also entered in thru the deep docks and parked in this area instead. Is this area considered camping also?

No, I don't think so. But then you need to make sure you file a deep dive plan since you're entering off of the deep dock. I believe this is required even if you're just dropping to 20' and then navigating over to the shallow side. Any dive beyond the wall, regardless of depth, requires a deep dive plan as I understand the rules.

I am not sure. I go to Gilboa mostly on Fridays (early morning) and the 4 dollars rule was in place if you parked back by the docks on Fridays also. But you could drop off your gear and then park at the main parking lot for 15.00 dollars per person. I wish that they would update thier web site to state the increases and state where to put your gear at while diving.

Saturday while checking in I was looking around for a sign stating where to put your gear while diving and I didnt see one at the office. I didnt ask Jody about why not a sign, for I think she is a super person and I didnt want to come off too brash with her, so I just let it go. If this is that big of a deal with Mike, why not post signs and put it on their web site.

Actually, I kinda think the per-person charge is a little stiff if he's trying to incent people into using the benches.

I dive from the back of my SUV because I'm not packing twin 130's any farther than I have to, so I'll pay the 4 bucks. But per-person....

I agree with Randy about the per-person charge being a bit steep. A few weekends ago both my buddy and I used the back of her SUV for gear, we used no more area than just the one car yet we paid twice as much as if only I were in the car using the exact same amount of space.

I understand wanting to keep the area clear for camping, but with the per person fee I'd be more inclined in the future to take two cars, we don't pay any more (well, besides gas) but we end up with more space to store gear and change.

I know that these little extra charges add up, but they seem to work for Gilboa. There are two quarries near me that's popular with divers, Haigh and Pearl Lake, and they both charge $20. Only Pearl has camping, and It's expensive!

If anyone happens to talk to Mike, assuming anyone can have a conversation without getting bit. I always have to count my fingers when I have to talk to him. I would suggest the following:
  • To encourage car pooling, charge a fee per car, and then per diver/non-diver to just go diving. Rather than current charge per person, rather than per vehicle. He can set it up so that he won't loose money and it will encourage people to car pool saving precious space at the quary.
  • This may sound like heresy, but create two sets of parking areas down there. Its a bit hard to tell, but that looks like what he's done for between the two docks. One for day divers who aren't camping and areas for campers and clearly mark the difference. Might be worth charging a bit more for camping, but it will keep the camp sites open for those who are truely camping. I could live with this since most of my dives there are on Sundays, and I setup on the back of my car most times, so a table is a luxury, not a necessity.

Almost forgot. Have a fixed allottment of spaces down there, and only sell that many. That will avoid frayed tempers about paying for it and then not finding a spot. That of course assumes clearly marking the spots. Lets face it the spots are pretty ad hoc.
