I made a brief video explaining the difference between a pipefish and a ghost pipefish. All footage from the animals' natural habitats, underwater in the Philippines, from Dauin and Zamboanguita on Negros. Some of the footage is from night dives. I'm quite happy about the shots of the female ghost pipefish's egg pouch. Enjoy:

 
Thanks for sharing & good effort. I would have liked to have seen pygmy pipehorses included.

Note that the double ended pipefish (alligator pipefish) has a prehensile tail. So possession of a prehensile tail cannot be the differentiating factor between sea horses and pipefish.

True, thanks for pointing that out. Probably hard to draw a strict line pipefishes/seahorses, given "pipehorses" like Acentronura sp., the pouch and the head morphology also come in as differences.
