Getting started

I am off to French Polynesia next month for a couple weeks of diving. I am looking to get a Go Pro camera so i can start taking some photos and video. Is the go pro dive housing worth the additional cost? I can also see there is a range of different red filters that i could also purchase. Are they any particular filters i should or should not get???
