Hi,

Just got to USA about 2 months ago and I am still very much dry.

I am staying in the monterey area for the next year, and I'd like very much to dive in

the area, just don't know where to start...

So... Name: Harari, age: 27 DM 200+ dives,

Looking for dive buddies and any useful tips,

Thanks,

Harari :D

Harari: see my Lobos post. You are welcome to possibly join 3 of us on Saturday 16th (Breakwater, Lovers Point) and at Lobos on the 18th if you like. Are you OK with cold water?

Welcome to the board, Harari

No prob with cold water (I think) though I would have to rent a 7mil fot this occasion.

Thanks a lot for the invite :)

I might be able to join on the 18th (wife permitting :) )

What's your previous dive experience.....

Well, I've been diving for the last 12 years, some years more some years less,
mostly I dived in the Gulf of Eilat (Aqaba) In the Red Sea, but I've also been to the Island of Malta and to tel Aviv in the Mediternean Sea, the Similian Islands in Thailand and Koh Phi Phi , The Eastern side of South Africa (just one short trip) and a couple of dives in the Straights of Malaka.
And just now, Hawai, which was excellent!

So most of my exprience is in very calm waters and a little warmer than this region (lower 70s).

I am looking for a place to start and know new UW bodies, I would prefer a group of people to just one person , so I know there is more than one person to give a hand in a case of emergency, (still at this point looking into every offer :) )

Cheers,

Harari

Harari - I think what some people might be thinking is that diving in cold water can be a new and sometimes stressful experience. You might wish to do an introduction to cold water diving course in order to get a feel for the gear, etc. with someone who is trained. Check out one of the Dive Shops in Monterey and I am sure that they can help you out with this. As well, we've been organizing some informal dive "meet and greets" which you would be welcome to join in on once acclimated to our diving here in Northern California! :)

Very much... How many times have we heard the stories of New Guys diving in monterey.... Most of them all Warm water divers???

If your going to dive Monterey, You will be putting on much more Thermal Protection... This means you will be adding 15-24 # of weight to a weight belt....

Water temps are 48-54 Depending on whos computer your looking at.... Being an instructor YOU REALLY NEED TO DO A LOCAL ORIENTATION DIVE...

DONT BE A STATISTIC....
