I've been reading up on U/W photography, but I think video is the way to go for me. I have a canon ZR-40 which is a small DV camera. I already have the software to edit videos and burn DVDs. I'd like to make some home movies of diving.

I was looking into housings, and Ikelite seems to be the only company making one for the camera. Best price so far is $630 online ($800 retail). Is this the way to go?

Is the Ikelite a decent housing for open water diving (130' max)?

I have an HID dive light, so I can strap the light head to the housing to make a video light.

Any other advice would be great, I can't find much information after an hour of searching the web...

Ikelite does wonderful housings and great customer service. If you have particular questions, email Ike for answers!

I guess if I already had the camera, and liked it, I would go for the housing to match instead of getting a whole new system.

Dunno what advice I can offer but ask away and I'll bet you'll get some great answers here.
