Hi,
One of my friends told me that every time she dives in White Point, she feels sick. I know that the place was a DDT dumping ground years ago, so that could explain that... but I was curious if anybody else felt sick after diving that site.

I've only dove it once and I didn't recall feeling bad or anything afterwards.

How about the rest of you?

The solubility of DDT in water is so low that human illness from diving off PV can't happen. I would be even more careful than usual to not silt up the bottom in the area of the DDT dump though, as I wouldn't like it in my reg. Human symptomolgy to pesticide exposure includes chloracne at higher doses. Its unmistakable - you don't want this. But you're not going to get it by swimming near PV.

DDT moves up the food chain pretty easily - all the way to the eagles that eat the fish that eat the whatever. Not cool.
