After it is gone my cognitive abilities are what I would consider normal.

How do you know? What controlled tests have you performed? How is your problem solving in a high stress situation in that condition compared to shallower?

That's the problem with narcosis - its not a problem until something else goes wrong.
 
In response to your query how do I know I am normal. I do not. I just know that I return to the state I was in before I felt the momentary light headedness. That is all I can say.:pilot:

You're missing the point - how do you know? As said above narcosis usually becomes an issue when someone is stressed, trying to problem solve and so on so although people can feel entirely normal when the **** hits the fan and they have to act to solve a problem while under stress of something breaking they cant, are slow or make mistakes.
