Ok, need a little advice. I’ve got Apeks MTX-RC 1st and 2nd stage reg sets it has Din 300 Bar rating with 7 full threads. A thread pitch of 14 TPI (threads per inch)
My buddy dives Hog D2 Din same thread pattern as my Apeks, 7 full threads.
We dive a lake regularly and the lake tanks has convertible valves on all the Aluminum 80s standard 200 Bar 3000 psi tanks and valves. I’ve been just removing the yoke adapter and using it as Din.
Recently my buddy and I are prepping for an into to tec class and while getting tanks and equipment together came across this warning about a 5 thread depth valves and the 7 threads not seating all the way. I’ve been diving the lake for a while without an issue ( doesn’t mean it’s right) so I guess I’m looking for clarification can you dive a 7 thread on 5 thread depth valve ?

If the 7 thread is on you DV and the cylinder is 5 thread, no problem. Just make sure it’s seated properly. I’ve been diving this configuration for over 20 years.

5 thread DV and a 7 thread cylinder will never seat. That’s to stop 200/232bar equipment being fitted to a 300bar gas source.

As already said, no problem and think of it not as thread depth (which means something different when you are cutting threads) ant think of as seating depth.

All day, every day. It's designed that way so the reg (7 thread 300 bar) can work with lower pressure (5 thread 232"ish" bar) cylinders. It will prevent someone from putting a yoke adapter plug in the DIN valve as it'll be too deep to prevent sealing on the yoke. Additionally, the 300 bar DIN valves will lack the dimple on the back of them for the yoke screw (a quick way to ID them in addition to simply appearing to be deeper).

There is some goofy European standard where those won't work, but here in the US 300 BAR DIN regulators works on 200 BAR DIN valves.

This is confusing. He doesn't mean DV, he means regulator.
