I would not carry anything on a plane I was unsure of. (if it looks like a bomb, acts like a bomb) I would leave it at home. Just because you make it through the x-ray machine doesn't mean the trip is over. Can you imagine someone seeing that thing who's already paranoid about flying? :11:
Are you saying you think that thing looks like a bomb?
:06:

SueMermaid:
Um, I think that would be "desecante".

Since dessicant is a little technical both in Spanish and in English you may want to use the term "Silica Gel".

El desecante mas comúnmente utilizado es la Silica-gel. :eyebrow:

I'd hate to have someone else think it was! The problem is it does not look like anything else, so someone might ASSUME the worst.(you know, people)

Muchas Gracias Miketsp,

If I wrote "dessicant de gel de sílice utilizó para absorber la humedad" on the bag, do you think it would help? I got this translation off a web translator.

Thanks!

Just to write on the bag you can probably simplify a little.
"Desecante Silica Gel para absorber la humedad".

Too bad you can't open it and show them there's nothing bad inside (like drugs, or plastic explosives, or the ultimate weapon of terrorists... fingernail clippers)

You know those are allowed now...and also safety razors!

UPDATE ON MY SHAKER. I just got back from my trip to Roatan, Honduras. I decided to "check-in" the noise maker along with the rest of the dive gear. I made a sticker with a Dymo label make that said "Buddy Alert", attached the shaker to the BC and stuck it in the BC pocket. I flew from Dallas, TX with a change in Houston, then on to San Pedro Sula, La Ceibo, Utilia and then to Roatan. I had absolutely no problems with this or any of the other scuba gear. They did look in my reg bag in San Pedro Sula on the return, but that was only a 30 second delay. TSA did inspect the dive gear bag both ways as there was a notice inside the dive bag. But in the end this item did not seem to bother any of the security people.

I too have made my own rattle. I sured Sling Shot ammo inside to make it rattle. I have pu mine in my checked bags the last couple of trips to Cozumel and had no trouble.
