I was wondering if anyone has completed there ow cert using the new PADI on line course? My wife recently completed this and has yet to get a book, dive log book, or a dive planner. We were the first to go through this course with the dive shop we used and they don't believe they supply those materials since they would not be able to make any money off the course that way. Is PADI supposed to send those to us directly?? For the time being she is using my materials when needed so it isn't real important but would be nice to get all the books were supposed to. Thanks!

The shop should have talked to you about this during the course work, pool, and OW training. By the way, since it is a PADI requirement to log each of your wife's OW training dives and those pages *MUST* be signed by the OW instructor, it leads me to wonder how you two made it this far without asking this question. I hope that this is what you meant by having her use your materials so far.

But no - PADI does not provide the paper copies of the materials as part of the on-line course. I am sorry the shop didn't ever cover this with you.

Per PADI's Professional Site's reference pages' instructor guidelines:

How does eLearning affect the required student materials for the course?
PADI Standards require that student divers must have a current version of the PADI
Open Water Diver Manual or Multimedia and an RDP (Wheel, table or eRDP) including associated Instructions for Use booklets.
Manual:
Upon registration PADI eLearners have access to an electronic version of the PADI Open Water Diver Manual Online for the course duration and for future reference—which meets the diver manual requirement.
RDP:
Student divers will have access to and RDP table graphic or eRDP desktop version for use when learning dive tables. However, you must ensure that the student diver has either an actual RDP table or eRDP to use during the dives and to retain afterward.

Hope that this helped.

The sign-up page for the PADI eLearning makes it clear that you must also purchase a logbook and RDP from your local store.

Ok, I should have checked the PADI site before posting here. I checked today and did confirm we were supposed to purchase the RDP and dive log. My wife must have misread this when she was signing up as she was under the impresion the dive shop provided it to us as they did me when I took the normal PADI classroom course. And in response to pearldiver we did speak with the dive shop but since we were the first to go through the online course with them they were not sure how it worked either and had been unable to get a response from PADI. As for the PADI requirement that the OW dives are logged and signed off on, we used a notepad and logged all the information and this was signed off on by the instructor. We will be getting a log book and transfering the info over and will have him sign off on that as well. Again thanks for the responses as we now understand what was supposed to happen and what we need to purchase.
