Been a certified diver for 30 years, and held a DAN membership since day 1 (well, right upon getting my c-card). Wife got it as soon as she was certified 24+ years ago, and daughter got coverage when she earned her c-card three years ago.
Never had to use it, and hope to never have to.... The Dutch government picked up the tab once 20+ years ago for an issue in Bonaire with my wife, and we probably could have put in a claim during a recent Frlorida trip, but the simple ER co-pay was survivable (some kind of a sting)..
As long as I am actively diving, I will be carrying it....
