Is there a compelling reason to leave the croth strap on? About the only benefit I get from it is on the surface. Apart from that, and the extra d-rings, I see no benefit at all, so I'll probably take mine off.

Like a 1970's liberated woman going braless, I think I'm going strapless, unpersuaded by the societal pressures of DIR dogma.

Mine lasted thru the pool & 1st OW dive. I only dive a single tank & got the impression it was more necessary with doubles. So far, no strap has been notheing but plusses. I don't even seem to have any problem even inverted. I tend to get a bit feet heavy toward the end of a dive in warm water so I found I can correct trim by slidding the BP up a bit.

What is it that bothers you? While it is a bit of a PITA to thread it through the waist belt it does not bother me during the dive. Is your's to tight?

I have never tried the kit without the crotch strap so I'm not sure of the impact it might have on the dive.

The crotch strap has nothing to do with DIR. The system works better if the strap is used. Of course, you have to be smart enough to adjust it.

I find that it "locates" the pack more positively on my body, and "unitizes" me with it better.

Its not uncomfortable on me - if it is on you, then its adjusted wrong. It should not compress the important parts of the male anatomy, if you know what I mean :)

Are you sure it shouldn't have read "Eunichizes"!

No, my g/f tells me on a regular basis that my "equipment" is not in need of an overhaul :)

All well and fine, as long as it gets a yearly inspection! Especially once it starts to get old.

Scuba equipment, right? This is a family board :goofy:
