If someone made generic Goodman handles they would sell I'm sure. How about using Delrin for a smooth, no sharp edges hand section and use an adjustable padded clamp over method to accommodate a range of light heads or small flashlights?

As long as there are no sharp edges and in a size no larger than necessary this would be a good product. It would seem easy for anyone with a lathe.

Maybe it exits already. If so could someone post that info.

I'm putting this in the Basic Forum since there's nothing necessarily "tech" about a Goodman handle. There are more and more small but powerful dive lights today that could be used hands free.

The Oxycheck Soft Sock is an example of the "soft" hands free method. It would be nice to have the "hard" version for the same kinds of lights since the hard version is easier to switch from hand to hand during the dive as needed.

Anyone seen something that one can mount rather bulky handheld such as PrinceTech C8 LED light?

Other than buying one Dive Rite Goodman Handle for Hand Mounting - From Prime Scuba or for $20 try ///:::...NiteRider Dive Lights International...:::\\\

Not a big leap to secure a light to it. Velcro strapping or Cable Ties if nothing else.

Velcro and bungee make for very accomodating mount systems.

I have something similar to the 3rd one. I'm not even sure how the second one attaches and the first one doesn't attach. It's designed (I think) for a light head that screws in.

The first one is reasonable in design otherwise but for $80 I'd like the light attachment to be included in the design. I'm using it for hand helds so it's not like it has a light cord to prevent totally losing it.

I'll have to give the first one some more thought. Thanks for the post by the way!

That's probably going to have to be a homemade design. I've seen several approaches based on the Oxycheq Soft Sock design and the Oms soft handle design.

Just in case you have any interest in a home made design I'll include a few details of what I've seen.

Start with a base of aluminum roughly the size of the top of your hand (knuckles to wrist but a little smaller) Drill a hole close to each corner. Put one piece of 1/4" bungee in from the top left hole and go under the metal and back up through the top right hole. Tie a knot by each hole from the top side.

Use another piece of bungee and do the same thing for the bottom two holes. These will hold the metal to your hand securely. Adjust where the knot is to adjust the length of the bungee.

Put the metal on top of your hand and slide your hand through both bungee loops. The rear loop is pulled back toward your wrist and the forward loop is pulled toward your palm.

This should keep the metal platform securely in place. Next drill 4 slots. Two on each side of where your light would rest. Use two loops of Velcro to thread around the front and back of your light.

Don't put this on until you are underwater and a bulky light is more or less weightless.

Maybe someone else will have a better suggestion (that's the purpose of these thread)!

$76 is a complete rip-off for an item that is probably made in China with $1's worth of material and 5 minutes of 10 cent an hour labor. Only a fool would pay this much. Imagine what an LDS would charge for an item like that.

What does where it's made, the cost of the material or of the labor have to do with anything?

I'm also guessing that you don't have/want a Goodman handle.

I agree it is expensive for what it is and that's why I'm considering the design and others but intend to make or buy something cheaper.

Regarding it being a rip off...to use your terminology only a fool is capable of being ripped off.

For anyone who buys this of their own free will it is not a rip off and they are not a fool. If someone considers this to be overpriced and not worth it for whatever reason and buys it anyway then that would be a fool I suppose.

You asked an opinion and I gave you one. (Sorta like Congress with all their polls and not paying attention to the answers.) It means a LOT to me where an item I might buy is made as I am a PATRIOT who buys everything possible "Made in the USA" or I make it myself or I do without if I can. Would you buy it if it was $150 no questions asked? OR $250? All prices and the fools who pay them are relative.

Oxycheq sells the u-handle for $6 and a Delrin T-base for something like $15.

Actually, I didn't ask for your opinion. What has being a PATRIOT got to do with anything? You love your country...great..who doesn't?

So, anyone from another country who buys goods made in the US is being unpatriotic?

If you buy some piece of crap just because it's made in the US that's foolish.
