Wow...I was swamped with work the last day, but the responses you all gave are awesome and truly appreciated. I'm going to plan to check out each of them...I've really been giving some thought to an Aqualung package that has a Pro LT BC, a Titan LX Reg, an ABS Octo, and a Suunto Zoop 2 for $939 at Prime Scuba:

I've also given some thought to an Aqualung package with the Zuma BCA, the Mikron regulator, the ABS Octo, and the Zoop 2 for $1029:

Aqua Lung Travel Package

Going to take a look at the suggestions you all have made as well. Again, really appreciate it.

Personally I'd go for the travel package if for no other reason the Zuma BC is back inflate. While not exactly the same buoyancy characteristics of a back plate with wing it does put the bladder on the back which to me is more comfortable.

If if you are going to do a lot of warm water diving then it should fit your needs well. The lighter gear designed especially for travel also makes packing light easier. I always try and take my gear on vacation so packing light is a plus. I was also looking at the Micron for my daughter as a solid but light weight regulator that doesn't skimp on performance even with the smaller size. The lighter second stage also helps lessen jaw fatigue on longer and/or repetitive dives.

So, ABS octos are not known for being particularly good. They're goofy to service and breathe poorly and are fairly plagued with issues I'd things aren't perfect. Mikron is okay. Titan regs aren't bad, either. I also tremendously dislike the Suuntos and recommend away from them as often as I can.

As for packing, backplate wings pack better than any travel "jacket" I've tried packing. If you're diving mostly local, a stainless plate might mean zero lead for you.
