Ok what is the best manufacturer for gear? I want everyones opinion if possible. I plan to use it in colder water, ie New England and I will use it while traveling to florida and other points south. Is Scubapro worth the extra money? Please HELP!!!

From my research, I don't think you can go wrong with an Aqua Lung Legend LX Supreme. (Yes, I just bought one!) Others will also sing the praises of Apeks, ScubaPro and Dive Rite. For the kind of diving that you're talking about, all four of these manufactuers (and a few others as you'll find out shortly) will work very well as long as you look at their specific cold water regs.

There's no best manufacturer per se because they produce different gear and some products are more suitable for certain applications than others, plus there's personal preference.

Having said that, I prefer backplates and wings (bp/w) if we are talking about BC's and weight systems, and within that catagory, I cannot recommend the Deep Sea Supply backplates enough. You can add extra plates to the DSS steel backplate to make it heavier for cold water use, and then take the additional weight plates off for warm waters. They make good wings too, but I suggest you search (titles) for DSS* before you decide. Also search for oxycheq, halcyon, and others...

There is not single manufacturer that makes the best of all gear, of all types, for all people. I feel pretty safe in saying that there is no one "best" manufaturer of even a single type of gear at all price points (some have great high end, but the bottom's not quite as good as a competitor's) etc.
