Yup. Thanks!Thalassamania:I think you meant a wrist compass, like THIS..
Rick Inman:Actually, wrist gages are a hog kit standard set up. I am IANTD technical trained. Is IANTD a koolaid thing to you, too? Are you calling all divers who use wrist gages koolaid drinkers?
This poster ask for our opinions. I gave mine. If you have an issue with that, why don't you take it to PM. Or even better, actually think about HELPING the poster by giving your input. I promise not to insult you based on your equipment choices. This should be common courtesy.
Tamas:No, HOG/IANTD is not kool-aid, but there are other possible suggestions to the OP's questions than the standard DIR set-up you listed. HOG/IANTD suggests the use of a wrist mounted timing device, but that can be a computer as well, they suggest the use an SPG but does not have to be the standalone "DIR Zone/Halcyon" SPG on a 24" hose mounted xyz way nor they speculate that you cannot use a console. They suggest things but leave it up to the individual to select what works for them based on their diving and needs.
Tamas:Didn't mean to offend you in any way, you dive the way you want but when the OP asks opinions on certain gauge consoles, why try to persuade him the other way? If they want a console give them a console -- simple as that. Let them figure it out for themselves and let them come to the conclusion on their own.
.
Jasonmh:Tamas, I think you are going overboard with your anti-dir ranting. If you look at what Rick posted, he never suggested a DIR Zone/Halcyon anything, and never mentioned a hose length. Two of the items are scubapro and 1 is suunto, both very standard choices that a wide range of divers choose. He also never said that anyone cannot use a console.
Jasonmh:The OP didn't say he wanted a console until AFTER Ricks post, the OP asked for opinions on GAUGES.
Let them figure it out for themselves???? Isn't advice what people are looking for when they post questions like this?
Me? Me?? Touchy??!!Tamas:Rick, chill man! Are we a bit touchy today?![]()
