Official word came today from Gates Underwater Products, Inc. that the new Sony HC9 camcorder will fit in the existing HC7 Housing without any modification!

That is cool that Sony decided to keep the same form factor for the HC9 (even though they really didn't do much to upgrade the camera..) Now, if they can only repeat that for the next generation and squeeze 3 CMOS inside

Haha, that would be nice Bob! They sure are lacking a compact consumer 3 chip camcorder. Our Sony rep is coming by the store next week, Ill feed him some good info!
About time! Hopefully Sony will continue to retain the same form factor and positioning of controls whenever possible. I second Bob's desire for a three chip consumer HD camcorder, although I'm not sure I'd be pleased if it uses the CMOS sensors given the results on a lot of my HD footage with the HC-7.
