So I go to B&M on my lunch break to get my tanks filled for tommorow
and who walks in the store but Gary Gentile! He was with a group of
people and I didn't recognize any of them. Can't imagine what he's
doing up here. Pretty cool anyway.

I was part of that group and unfortunately I didn't recognize anyone in the store either :10: .
Gary was up doing research on his Mass book. His numbers are always good because he gets them from guys that actually dive the wrecks. And he is cool and down to earth.

This is so weird—I used to live very near B&M; even bought an OMS spg from Bruce once. Would have been cool to have met Gary Gentiles there.

well, i meet him last week.
as everyone says. very down to earth. cool guy....

Psst . . . I heard that Gary's "Massachusetts" book should be out in time for the Sea Rovers show next year (March). I understand it will cover the wrecks around Buzzards Bay and Cape Cod.

Thanks for the info. I actually asked him about the book directly through email last week and he did say it should be available at the end of February 2006. Looking forward to it.

I was just trying to be funny . . . not too good at it. It's no secret about the book.

My friend, brother, and I were fortunate enough to take a week off from work and dive the wrecks in Buzzards Bay and around Rockport with Gary a couple of weeks ago. That's the week we went to B&M. We were blessed with good conditions and great diving! I've known him for a few years now and consider him a friend. I can state categorically that he is truly a nice and down to earth guy.

fraid so John!

We managed to get out to the YSD 56 on Saturday. Too bad we could not get to do it with Gary while he was here, but he may be back up towards the end of the month. It's a small wreck and not really worth the 50-70 mile RT (depending on where you start), IMHO.

I thoght it was you. How has your summer been going? We have gotten on a few new things year including a project that we had been working on for many years. Gary was supposed to come out with me in June to do the Trojan, (he and Sam did it in August last year, I had told them that the vis would be aweful by then), but I ended up having to replace the diesel in my new boat.

We had a great summer. I've been diving with a couple guys from MA (Harry & Jan), doing wrecks throughout Cape Cod Bay and around Cape Ann. Harry has the Osprey that you saw me on when we saw you at the Romance. We've been diving some wrecks that were new to us such as the Crane off of Thatchers Island, The Baleen (my new favorite!), The Haight (bow and stern). We got out to the Northern Voyager but the sea conditions were not good so we passed - we were considering this weekend for it but it does not look good. Of course we did a few dives on the Pinthis (one of my favorites) and the Mars.

In Buzzards Bay we did the Cowin, the Yankee, the Hilda Garsten, and of course the Angela . I managed to pick up a few nice trinkets along the way so it was a productive summer.

Haven't had much to do all summer with the Jamestown gang as Sam likes to do his thing with Sue and John S. Just as well, I like to do new, and lately deeper stuff. Can only go to the Neptune so many times!

Good to hear from you,
Dennis
