I decided to go with the SOL =) with heart meter now it does suck im going to have to purchase the installation software seperate.....that doesnt make sense but o well

thanks for all your input guys hugs!!!!!!!

I sell both for those that want them and I personally found that the Sol is easier to read underwater. The color screen on the Icon is hard to read at certain angles.

Is color reallie necessary while diving?

Debating between a Mares Icon HD w/ AI (in spring) or a SOL (now). Chances are it will be the SOL for reasons of buddy gas tracking (not multi-gas tracking - it is different - SOL offer both features). Like to keep track of my 10 y/o gas consumption without having to constantly grab his wrist.

As for everything else - color is nice. Just wondering if it make any sense underwater.

The Icon does not have integrated air yet. It is due to be released this spring...but that is what they said last spring.

I used a Suunto D9 and compare that to Icon HD. The color really IS nice...it makes it easier to see different values on the computer...the contrast is better. Of course the Suunto screen is smaller so that may not be a totally fair comparison.

i am a mares fan have 2 nemo air computers, and like the AI feature but i just got tired of waiting for it on the icon so i went with a luna so far i like it, it is easy to read, the hoseless transmitter is can be picky. but in the end its my primary so its not bad. wish dss made a bungie mount for it.

I think you will find the biggest difference between the SOL and Luna is that the Luna has PDIS (Profile dependant intermediate stops) which means it will decide what you have been doing, and all the other factors like depth and time and calculate if you will need a deep stop on thw way up.
My Luna (bought in Europe) came with free upgrades. The only one I would need to buy is the heartrate monitor.
