Galileo Sol Backlight Failure

Gudday All,
My Sol backlight won't work.
Did I hold the buttons in a certain way for too long ?
I have done the factory reset, then set it up to my preferences again.
I have tried all the settings for the backlight in the menu.
I tried ye olde google-machine but the posts I was viewing were too vague, so here I am !!

I am quite careful with it, funny thing about keeping a life support device operable - :shocked2:

Any ideas or am I plum out of luck and it's time has come ?
