I have a dive trip going to the Galapagos Islands August 13-22, 2011. This will be a
land based trip, with the group staying and diving on 3 different islands.
Visit the islands that inspired Charles Darwin to write Origin of the Species a
land filled with evolutionary oddities, islands harboring their own singular animals,
and marine life that lives no where else. The location of the Galapagos archipelago
is unique in that four major ocean currents converge here, causing an explosion of
life. With more than 2,900 marine species identified to date, the Galapagos has one
of the richest and most diverse marine ecosystems in the world. These islands are so
extraordinary that UNESCO designated them as a natural World Heritage Site.
While you travel between the amazing islands, you can expect to see Galapagos penguins, blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, and of course Galapagos giant tortoises! Marine life includes Galapagos and hammerhead sharks, king angelfish, eagle rays, Galapagos fur seals and sea lions, and many other animals unique to the Galapagos. In fact, the Galapagos have about 50 terrestrial and 750 marine endemic species (animals that live only here).
The price of the trip is $4,335 per person, with two people to a room. This includes superior room accommodations, breakfast, lunch and dinner, diving, transfers between islands, daily excursions on the islands, travel to/from Quito to the islands, room taxes, national park fees, departure tax, and hotel room in Quito coming and going.
Please write and I will send additional information.
