Hi.

Bucket list trip. I have only done one other liveaboard in my life (Spirit of Freedom-Cairns). All of the operators seem reasonable so I was going to go with Aggressor for "brand" reasons, but can get on Galapagos Sky for cheaper. Any reason I should still go with Aggressor despite the extra grand? Thanks.

I would NOT ever go with Aggressor because of their "brand" err reputation. If you want a better experience , see my trip report on the Tiburon.

Galapagos Sky are a great outfit, good DMs and Panga crew, hot snacks between dives - not sure an extra £1,000 is worth it. Most of the time you are in the water or asleep😃

Thanks for the advice. Forgive my ignorance. I had previously been advised that Aggressor was generally a "good" bet. It looked like they might have better access/stock to rental or backup gear in case that was needed compared to GS. I'm on a longer trip with my and diving is only part of it, so I was hoping to minimize the amount of personal gear I had to take with me.

Leaky here is a thread from about 10 years ago after their boat ran aground.

The issue with the Aggressor fleet is that when Davey Jones comes a calling the Aggressor fleet is well known for sailing away leaving customers high and dry. Sailor beware.
