If anyone is trying to e-mail anyone on the island right now or in the past few days, please be patient. We are having major technical difficulties.
All cable internet subscribers (which is most of us) have been without internet service going on 3.5 days now. The problems have been ongoing for a couple of months, gradually getting worse, but at least before we had service SOMETIMES...now it's completely out. As you can imagine, this is very frustrating.
I was told yesterday that they were working on the problem, but we are looking at close to a week or more without service or intermittent service at best. Apparently they are having major problems with the equipment that transmits the signal between here and the mainland.
Not everyone has the option to switch internet services because DSL and dial-up are not avaialble in all areas yet due to lack of available phone lines. I have cable internet at the office because it is all that is available, but as of a couple of weeks ago, I have dial-up and DSL at home...THANK GOD...I can at least answer e-mails and get online from home now. I was having so many problems with the cable internet at home, that I switched to DSL the second it was available in my area. I wish I had that option at my office.
Dive ops I know of the top of my head that are affected by this are Liquid Blue, Deep Blue, Bottom Time, and I'm sure there are many others. Please be patient with us...we are doing the best we can under the circumstances.
