Heard that Nassau Scuba Centre was closing and also got this via email this morning.

Just wanted to share it with the folks here in case anyone has a vacation trip booked with them so they could make other plans. They have a similar notice on their website also.

Letter:
We regret to inform our friends that Nassau Scuba Centre will close its doors effective July 1. Nassau Scuba Centre will continue to accept reservations [https://divenassau.com/reservations] through June 30, and we want to ensure our guests that we will provide exceptional service and diving opportunities during this time. Guests with reservations for after June 30 have been contacted, and we have provided diving accommodations for them or a full refund. Dive centers operators who are in the planning stages for group trips to Nassau are encouraged to contact Ed Moggio at 800-805-5485.

We want to ensure our friends that although Orange Hill Beach Inn [http://www.orangehill.com] has been a close partner since 1990, Judy and Danny Lowe’s hotel is NOT affected by the closing of Nassau Scuba Centre. The hotel continues to welcome divers and non-divers to the Bahamas.

We want to thank the guests, dive professionals and dive centers that we have spent time with during the past 15 years. Each individual made diving along the Tongue of the Ocean very special for the staff at NSC. We also want to thank the more than 45 employees that have worked with us during this time. These dive professionals consistently ensured that guests had a fun time while providing a safe environment for divers and students.

Although Nassau Scuba Centre is closing, we hope you will still consider visiting the Bahamas frequently to take advantage of our diving diversity. If you have any questions or are interested in purchasing assets that we have in Nassau, you may contact us via our Web site.

When I recently called Dive Dive Dive, the person I spoke with said that Stuart's Cove was making an effort to push out the rest of their competition. They seemed to think that they would be closed by August.

mike_s:
So Dive Dive Dive is closing in August or were you talking about Nassau Scuba Center?

Yeah, I was referring to DDD. If they go under, who else does that leave?

hmmmmm..... kinda a hard one huh?

I've never dove with Stuart Coves and have never really heard anything bad about them, but if they are the only show in town, I don't expect it to be cheap to dive with them. They are already a little pricey at $78 to $88 per two tank dive. I imagine that will go up now.

And I thought that Bimini Undersea was overpriced at $8 air fills and $89 for a two tank dive.

My first ocean dive was with Nassau Scuba Center. I am sad to see them bowing out. I think I will stick to diving in Freeport.
