Perrone,
You can't imagine how much your encouragement means. The advice is solid, too. I'm sometimes just a cheap-skate. I spent a checnk of change for the camcorder and housing, but thinking cheap about the computer. Guess I just need to open the rusty wallet.
I'm aware that the HC7 can do some good video, but as you know, things get more critical underwater. I have no aspirations of becoming a pro or even close to it, but I wish sometimes I had gotten a camcorder with 3 CCD's and white balance adjust. Then added an L&M housing to match like my buddy has. Of course he's a cardiologist and his wife is a doctor so he's in a slightly different income stream. You can bet I'm going to stick with this and learn.
One of the reasons I chose the camera and housing I did is because of the weight. The airlines keep cutting back on baggage allowance so being as I'm getting everything new and for the first time I figure it wise to keep the weight down to something reasonable. Well, I got that at about 6#.
I like your advice about the forthcoming computer. I have to do a lot of looking at hardware, but I think I'll end up with an AMD 64x2 Dual Core 3.2gig. At least 3 gig of DDR2 800 and expandable to 8 gigs. Maybe a 500gig HDD internal and another 500 external drive. I'm not sure just how much the video card means as I've read some info that it's not that important for editing, but I'll still get a good one. And being that I'm a cheap guy I can take my time. Being as processors are coming out with quad-core this ought to make dual-cores cheaper.
OK, now it's time to see aboutthat trial version of Sony Vegas. Can you tell me where to look?
Barry
