Thanks to all of you who responded. Here's a response I received from Fuji:

Thank you for contacting Fujifilm, USA's Contact Center. We appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance.

Please be advised the FinePix S2 Pro digital camera uses a Fat 16 file system. Therefore the media capacity must be 2 GB or less.

Unfortunately, we have no available firmware updates and/or downloads for the FinePix S2 Pro digital camera to change the file system from FAT 16 to Fat 32.

We have forwarded your comments and suggestions to our Marketing Department for future considerations.

We sincerely hope that this information has been beneficial to you. If you should have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again. It would be our pleasure to assist you.

Thank you for your interest in Fujifilm Digital Imaging products and services.

Respectfully,

That was very decent of the folks at Fuji and pretty much what we expected.

I wonder whether this issue has been corrected in the Fuji S3 model? I'm thinking of purchasing one.

Gary
The compatibility chart on the Fujifilm website indicates that the S3 can take 4GB media.
