Yesterday the local ABC affiliate interviewed some divers at Ft. Pickens who said they wouldn't be diving there anymore due to tar balls. Unfortunately high tide appears to be bringing some unwelcome hydrocarbon content with it. Do be careful.

If you're looking for a backup plan, I was thinking about hitting the Destin Jetties tomorrow, though I know that's an even longer haul for you. The jetties had very good viz this morning when I was there.

Well I think ft pickens is out! I may just drive over to Morrison spring but st. Andrews isn't out of the question either.

I talk to Ft pickens Ranger on the phone she told me no tar balls were found on the beach

This contradicts what was shown on camera during Thursday's night's evening news on channel 3. Maybe the ranger meant "no tar balls found yet today?"

I went there today for some free diving and came up with oil down my arm and fins... didn't see it but rubbed up on some rocks as I was going around.. so its definitely there

So when you dried off with a towel to get in your car to leave shouldn't you have had it on the towel ?

And why is there know water on your arm if you got out of the water and into your car to take the picture why do you look like your not wet ?

haha, oh no, conspiracy theory! I'm sorry I took time to dry off before getting in my car, here is a wet picture for you.. geez!

Good reply...I was wondering if the oil was being shot at you from a "grassy knoll.":rofl3:

Tarball on your arm aside (man up!), the visibility was good at about 10-15 ft. We didn't make it out at high tide but, we still could free dive to see a lot.

There is quite a lot of blue crabs. I'm thinking another trip out there to find our friend octopus to show him his new feast.
