Ft Pickens Dive Procedures

I am looking for some where else to do a shore dive besides St Andrews. I have heard good things about Ft. Pickens, however I don't know much about it. Would someone mind sharing some pointers on entry/exit points, where/what to see or any other considerations prior to diving there.

On a side note if anyone is familiar with good shore dives between Pensacola and the Apalachicola area I would be grateful for any information you have.

Can't fault you for it though, it's kinda hard to find because there's lots of quarry dives listed first, so unless you read the entire sticky, you're likely to miss it.

I think some folks from my LDS are meeting up there this Sunday:

We will have a noon high tide at Fort Pickens on sunday, 07-31-11. This is a good opportunity to dive P'cola pass. Maybe hit Fort Pickens first then the new Pensacola Beach site by Portifiono.

Kate is working on Sunday, so it looks like she'll have to miss. I think Tess is off work and planning to come, though.

I'm planning to do two at Pickens, then one at Portifino. Will be at Pickens well ahead of everybody else, so I can make dive number 2 around 10:30 or so.

Thanks for the offer. I'm actually headed out with Better Bottom Time on sunday. Its my first boat dive, I'm pretty excited. Hopefully I can meet some of you up there at a later point in the summer.
