Hi all,
I actually posted similarly a few weeks ago, but my trip to Fort Lauderdale FL is coming up in just a week and I'm still looking for suggestions for specific places/charters that are friendly for NEW divers as well as snorkelers. My mom will be with me and if possible she'd like to go to a place that has a single charter that takes out snorkelers as well as divers (she says she did this in the keys...are there any in Ft L?). Note that I am a new diver and would be alone diving, so put with a random buddy, and would like a dive shop that is willing to work with a new diver and help me out a bit. I do understand everything and all, but am just a bit nervous as it will be my first dive without my typical dive buddy from home.

So, I am specifically looking for newbie friendly dive shops and charters in Fort Lauderdale that may take out both divers and snorkelers. We do not want to travel far from the area if possible.

You guys helped me out a lot already with my previous post, so I thank you and look forward to hearing some helpful tips!

Hey Cheyenne. I'll be in Lauderdale to dive next week too. Spring Break!! lol I'm bringing a friend and it's her first time diving in the ocean, if you want to join us for a dive, I can show you around the reefs. I dive it every spring and summer break. Another cool dive site is Blue Heron Bridge. But that's about an hour north of lauderdale. You can actually do shore diving at lauderdale by the beach. That's where I usually dive off of. Your mom can even snorkel out there.

South Florida Diving Headquarters does scuba/snorkel trips. I believe Pompano Dive Center does as well, but don't quote me on that. You may also want to give Steve at Gold Coast Scuba ((954) 616-5909 a call if you want to try your hand at some shore diving. They do meetups regularly.

If you are willing to drive an hr and a half south, Key largo has plenty of options for scuba/snorkel trips.
